First Station: An Ancient Ocean

Megalodon’s teeth are taken from West Java in Indonesia. At around 20 million years ago the regions of dry land are now in our view were warm marine environments. Megalodons as well as other marine creatures resided in these waters as did Megalodons.

Megalodon like sharks in the present, constantly produces and loses teeth. A few of the teeth were buried in sediments from the sea. In the right conditions burial, they were protected long enough for fossilization to take place.
